Weathering the Storm

Somehow we’ve managed to stay afloat while confronting the perilous seas of last year’s pandemic. Now here we are in 2021, and we still haven’t reached a safe harbor. But we can see some clearing skies on the horizon as we try to right our ship and get back on course.

A year has passed, and many would say that we are still trying to find our way out of this global pandemic. So much has happened over the past year, and people have had to deal with challenges that they likely never faced before. Many healthcare workers worked grueling hours for months, often without the proper protective gear and with a fear of contracting a potentially deadly virus with no cure.

Climbing Out of the Rescue Phase

In any disaster or calamity, there are usually two phases: first the rescue stage and then the recovery period. It appears to me that we are crawling out of the rescue phase of this COVID related economic upheaval. Sales leaders have had to learn resilience in order to pivot to a new normal of virtual selling. Now it seems we are about to head into the recovery phase. So how do learn the lessons from COVID and begin to restore some sense of normalcy to our sales incentive programs? Or will normal ever be possible again?

We’re Not There Yet

Yes, here we are and it’s a new year and a majority of our employees are still working remotely. The good news is that now we have a vaccine. The bad news is we’re just not sure when things will get back to normal. Or will things ever be normal again? One thing we know for certain. We have discovered new ways to communicate and interact with our employees and that can definitely be a good thing.
