Understanding and Supporting the Nursing Workforce

There is no question that the nursing healthcare workforce bears the brunt of the COVID-19 global outbreak. Nurses are the frontline warriors in the raging COVID battle and sustain the lion’s share of the emotional and physical trauma of caring for sick and dying patients.

People use to work for the company that offered them the biggest paycheck, but now there is much more that goes into creating the best working environment for employees. Employee recognition is a key component to creating a workplace that can recruit and retain the best people. In fact, 59 percent of employees prefer companies with a rich recognition culture to jobs with higher salaries that don’t give any recognition.

It’s hard to believe that there are less than 5 months remaining in 2021. Since we are more than halfway through the year, we wanted to share our top blog posts (by the number of page views) that were published in January through July 2021.

A few of our healthcare clients have asked us for some suggestions on how best to recognize their remote and hybrid workers. So we have compiled a list of some ideas that we think will make the most impact for your workers that have worked in some remote capacity and continue to do so.

It’s been a long fifteen months. Your employees have gone above and beyond to keep your company afloat. They have been extraordinarily flexible and independent, and in many cases, accepted reduced hours or salaries to minimize costs. So how can you acknowledge and celebrate the sacrifices and adjustments they have made for the greater good of the company?

Many in healthcare management are wondering how they will ever be able to facilitate their healthcare workers’ recovery from the debilitating trauma of the COVID-19 pandemic. How can we possibly help our employees regain their resilience and spirit after undergoing such unrelenting stresses and shattering ordeals? Can we give them any hope that this coming year will bring any solace and relief going forward?

Weathering the Storm

Somehow we’ve managed to stay afloat while confronting the perilous seas of last year’s pandemic. Now here we are in 2021, and we still haven’t reached a safe harbor. But we can see some clearing skies on the horizon as we try to right our ship and get back on course.

A year has passed, and many would say that we are still trying to find our way out of this global pandemic. So much has happened over the past year, and people have had to deal with challenges that they likely never faced before. Many healthcare workers worked grueling hours for months, often without the proper protective gear and with a fear of contracting a potentially deadly virus with no cure.
